Our Poco a Poco training and learning programmes for EYFS leaders and practitioners are designed to introduce this innovative learning intervention to your setting and raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. All our packages are available for delivery from May 2016 and are eligible for Pupil Premium funding.

Introduction to Poco a Poco

Experience Poco a Poco in action and introduce your staff to this learning intervention. This 1 day training package will:

  1. Actively involve your staff and their pupils in Poco a Poco intervention activities (2 x 40 minute sessions) led by one of our trained Poco a Poco musicians;
  2. Inspire and support teachers to use Poco a Poco techniques, activities and resources to accelerate learning outcomes for their pupils;
  3. Introduce teachers to the free Poco a Poco web resource and how to use them effectively;
  4. If applicable, explore how Pupil Premium outcomes can be achieved in your school using the Poco a Poco development programmes.

Settings: Nursery / Primary / Special

EYFS Prime Areas:

Duration: 1 day, providing 2 x 40 minute delivery sessions with pupils and staff, and 1 x 2hrs twilight training with staff

Times: 1 – 6pm

Venue: Your setting

No. of pupils: 20 (10 per delivery session)

No. of staff: 15 (2 per delivery session, up to 15 for twilight training)

Poco a Poco Development Programme

Embed Poco a Poco learning interventions into your setting to accelerate the learning of children at risk of delay. This 15 session programme will:

  1. Engage a class or selected groups of pupils and their teachers in a full programme of targeted intervention activities led by one of our trained Poco a Poco musicians;
  2. Demonstrate how Poco a Poco techniques, activities and resources can be used to delivery high quality learning outcomes for pupils in your school;
  3. Actively support and build teachers’ confidence and skills to embed Poco a Poco activities into daily routines;
  4. Provide teachers with regular feedback and observation notes on how individual and groups of pupils are developing in response to the Poco a Poco interventions.

Duration: 5 musician visits over one term, providing a total of 15 x 40 minute delivery sessions (3 per visit) with pupils and staff

Times: 9am – 1pm per visit

No. of pupils: 30 (3 x groups of 10, each accessing 5 sessions)

No. of staff: Up to 9 (2 – 3 per group)
